Northwest Colorado is famous for its large herds of mule deer. All of our mule deer hunting is fair chase. Our Colorado ranches are managed to provide you with superb hunting opportunities.

I just wanted to take time to tell everyone what a great experience I have had with Western Outdoor Adventures. My dad and I have now hunted with Jeff three different times. Twice we did the DIY hunts and went on a guided hunt this year.

Our mule deer hunts usually run during the rut and we do have landowner vouchers available to assist of hunters if needed. Some of our units don’t take any points to draw depending on what season & unit it’s for.

In addition to our excellent resident mule deer herds, hunting pressure on nearby public lands causes more deer to migrate onto private land that Western Outdoor Adventures lease. These conditions have resulted in our deer hunters realizing an outstanding opportunity rate year in and year out. We regularly see bucks in the 150”-170” range, with a few in the high ranges.
Our mule deer hunting ranches are in what is known as some of the best country in Northwest Colorado. The terrain is rolling sage hills with draws and canyons, hay fields, river bottoms, meadows, juniper-pinon trees, cedar trees, that offer you some exciting hunting experiences.

Western Outdoor Adventures LLC has a 1 to 1, 2 to 1 or a 3 to 1 guide ratio guide service. Guide service is based on a limited number of clientele. Motor vehicles are use for guided hunts on private ground only. We want everyone to feel comfortable with us and we welcome handicapped hunters as well as children over the age of 12 for hunting. We strive for 5 star hospitality and cater to all of our clients.
MULE DEER OUTFITTERS FAQ'S
We offer fully guided, rifle mule deer hunts in units 23, 33, 42, 421. These hunts are offered in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rifle seasons.
Each of our guided units provides distinct lodging and meal options. Check our Rates page for details specific to each unit.
We do not offer semi-guided or DIY mule deer Hunts.
We hunt the second, third and fourth rifle season which runs from the end of October to the end of November.

Any caliber from .270 to .338 is effective for harvesting a mule deer, with shot placement becoming especially crucial for lower-caliber rifles.
Yes, the nonresident mule deer license fee is $494.47. A habitat stamp is also required for a fee of $12.74. Some of our units don’t require any points to draw.
The primary draw application is open from March 1 to April 1. Applicants must apply online at https://cpw.state.co.us/buy-apply. Draw results are posted at the end of May. The secondary draw application period is open from June 19-30. These results are posted in early July. A Hunter Education card is required to apply for or buy a mule deer license.
